Lately I have returned to my first instrument, the piano, after a long period of estrangement. In this cycle of eight pieces I explore different ways of minimalist improvisational piano playing limiting myself to elemental musical techniques like the repetition of a single pitch, building a melody, repetition of a chord, and clusters. Then I manipulate the gained musical elements electronically in order to sustain the piano sounds and to change their timbre. I call these pieces songs, because they all have some kind of loose song structure, but they are not songs in the strict sense of the term.
All songs were composed and recorded in March and April 2020.
